The layers of this sandwich represent the Indian tricolour, making it an interesting snack for Independence Day. With a preparation time of two minutes, this is an excellent way to greet sudden visitors on the special day. This 15 August, try this at home!

 

Ingredients:

Brown bread – 2 slices
White bread – 1 slices
Grated carrot – ¼ cup
Mayonnaise – 1 tbsp
Salt – ¼ tsp
Grated cottage cheese – ½ cup
Green chutney – 2 tbsp

 

Preparation:

  • Combine mayonnaise and carrot together and add half of the salt for the orange mix
  • Combine chutney and cheese together and add remaining half of the salt for the green mix
  • Take a brown bread and spread the green mix evenly on it
  • Now place a white bread on top of the green mix
  • Spread the orange mix on top of the white bread evenly
  • Now place another brown bread on top of the orange mix
  • Press the layers gently
  • Cut the sandwich vertically into two equal parts
  • Serve with some hot beverage

Ingredients:

Broccoli – 1
Baby corn – 8
Carrot – 1
Butter – 3 tbsp
Pepper – ½ tsp
Salt – ¼ tsp

 

Preparation:

  • Slice broccoli, baby corn, and carrot diagonally
  • Saute broccoli, baby corn, and carrot separately with butter
  • Add salt and pepper
  • Arrange the vegetables in a plate to represent the tricolour
  • Serve hot

Brighten up your Independence-Day-special breakfast table with this unique smoothie. This healthy drink will also go well with all types of snacks. A favourite among children, this special drink can easily get your guests into the spirit of patriotism. 

 

Ingredients:

Milk - 1 cup
Yogurt - 1 cup
Honey - 3 tbsp
Chopped spinach - 1 cup
Boiled carrot - ½ cup
Peeled & chopped apple - ½ cup
Cinnamon - ½ tsp

 

Preparation:

  • Combine yogurt, milk, and honey in a blender until smooth
  • Pour equal amounts of the liquid in three different bowls
  • Add carrot in one bowl, spinach in another, and apple in the last one
  • Add cinnamon in the bowl containing apple
  • Combine the mixture in each bowl separately in a blender
  • Pour some of the green mixture slowly in a serving glass
  • Pour some of the white mixture slowly on top of the green layer
  • Pour some of the orange layer slowly on top of the white layer
  • Serve your homemade tricolour smoothie immediately
