Fresh and Untainted Single Estate Coffee

The eternal bond between man and coffee can be defined in five simple words “I cannot survive without you”. Once you are addicted to it, you cannot endure a long-term separation. So strong is this commitment that Kunal Ross – an ardent coffee fan – decided to take this love a step ahead. He wanted to make these exquisite beans available to Indians, at reasonable prices, from the abundant estates in and around the country. Journeying across the countryside, from Nepal to the unseen hills of Kodagu and Kodi, he discovered some of the most exotic collections of these treasured beans. Thus began the journey of The Indian Bean in 2012 at Mumbai (Maharashtra). It guaranteed the finest, flavoured authentic coffee to Indian shoppers.

The whole ideology behind the enterprise is the procurement of untainted coffee beans from independent farms. With no mixing and adulteration, single-estate coffee offers wholesome and rich flavours. Adhering to the best quality standards, cost effective methods, and sustainable farming procedures, The Indian Bean aims at promoting single-estate owners in the country. Being the first online speciality coffee company in India, they source beans straight from producers and sell it directly over the internet. Premium and richly fragrant, watapi coffee is a grade of 100% pure Arabica coffee, grown amidst the lush hillsides of south-eastern Karnataka. This exotic variant of single-estate beans requires moderate slopes at elevations of 1,200 to 1,300 metres above sea level. Medium, cinnamon-roasted, it follows a wet-processing method. In this process, Arabica coffee beans are slightly roasted, resulting in beans with a light-brown colour. Delicately bitter and fairly sweet with an acidic aftertaste of fruity hints, watapi coffee is ideal as a stimulating, refreshing beverage. This single-estate coffee is as pure, intense as can be – with no mixing.

OREGIONAL Roots

Arabica coffee is native to the forests in the highland regions of south western Ethiopia. The origin of coffee in India dates back to the 17th century, when Baba Buden, a Sufi saint and traveller, smuggled seven types of these magical beans and planted them in the Chandragiri Hills of Chikmagalur District in Karnataka. Much later, D Kent, an ardent coffee lover - introduced these plantations around Mysore. The Kent AA, named after this British gentleman, is one of the earliest variants of Arabica coffee. Owing to the invigorating intensity of this extraordinary beverage, coffee estates gradually migrated to the neighbouring southern states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
