Well, that is just how much effort goes into getting you the perfect tea – the one that makes everything perfect with every sip. Like everything else, Indians couldn’t help themselves from giving a traditional touch, even to tea – making it better and much healthier. Yes, we are talking about the much-loved masala tea aka masala chai.

 

Very easy to make, great in taste – the ingredients to make the perfect cup of masala chai are generally found in all Indian households. And trust us, be it summer, winter, autumn, or spring, chai time never goes out of style. Love that cup of masala tea at your neighbour’s place? Prep time – 15 minutes

Serves - 2-3

 

Ingredients

 

For masala

  1. Whole cloves - 4
  2. Cinnamon sticks - 1
  3. Ground ginger - ¼ tsp
  4. Cardamom pods - 2
  5. Ground black pepper (preferably fresh) - ⅛ tsp

For tea

  1. Water - 3 cups
  2. Milk - ½ cup
  3. Granulated sugar - 2 tbsps
  4. Black tea - 2 tbsps

Masala tea easy recipe

 

  1. Use a mortar aka okhli to crush the spices – cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon
  2. Take water in a saucepan. Add ginger, pepper, and the crushed spices to this pan
  3. Bring it to a boil
  4. Turn off the flame. Cover the pan and let it stay for five minutes
  5. Now add milk and sugar and boil
  6. Turn off the flame and add the tea
  7. Cover and leave for three minutes
  8. Stir and serve
