About Vivek A Vyas, Bhuj

Painting the Essence of Reality

For software engineer Vivek A Vyas, feelings find expression through painting. A sensitive person by nature, this 32-year-old successful businessman and owner of an RO filter plant, has always been fond of this art form. The creative artist initially gifted his paintings to friends and family who appreciated his style and encouraged him. In 2006, after receiving formal training, Vyas started pursuing his hobby more professionally. This talented painter uses water and ink colours as preferred mediums for giving form to his innermost thoughts. In the end, what appears in his paintings is his deep understanding of human thoughts and emotions.

Like his inspiration, Krishen Khanna, Vyas also takes to figurative art in order to depict real life incidents and scenes. He uses water colours and occasionally oil paints to showcase life vividly. Vyas also uses the online platform to connect with his fans. Depending on the nature of his paintings, this artist from Gujarat takes about one to 15 days to create his masterpieces.

Specialities

Vyas is known for his thought-provoking paintings that reflect his various ideas, moods and emotions. His beautiful colour combinations are widely recognised and his body of work enjoys a faithful following. The artist plans to dabble in acrylic medium soon. By sensitising his audience to their surroundings, Vyas achieves what many budding artists aspire to — capturing the honest beauty of everyday life.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In Vivek Arts Thoughts Of Freedom, the painter depicts an elaborately dressed beautiful woman along with a bird. The similarity between the bird and the woman’s colour tone gives the impression that the two are connected in some way. In the background is a beautiful black pattern that also flows onto the woman’s face. The strength of this elegant yet domineering structure is clear from its dense colour. The image in its entirety gives us a glimpse into the woman’s mind and brilliantly captures her thoughts of freedom with subtle metaphors. This painting made in 2014 uses ink colours, a popular medium in East Asia. The artist has put upon paper the fewest possible lines and tones; just enough to create form, texture, and a powerful effect. Every brush stroke is charged with meaning and purpose. The uniqueness of this art lies in the painter’s complex understanding of human nature. In this artwork, the artist adopts the literati painting style – an East Asian type of brush painting. This form uses black ink — the same as used in East Asian calligraphy, in various concentrations.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
