About Vivek A Vyas, Bhuj

Painting the Essence of Reality

For software engineer Vivek A Vyas, feelings find expression through painting. A sensitive person by nature, this 32-year-old successful businessman and owner of an RO filter plant, has always been fond of this art form. The creative artist initially gifted his paintings to friends and family who appreciated his style and encouraged him. In 2006, after receiving formal training, Vyas started pursuing his hobby more professionally. This talented painter uses water and ink colours as preferred mediums for giving form to his innermost thoughts. In the end, what appears in his paintings is his deep understanding of human thoughts and emotions.

Like his inspiration, Krishen Khanna, Vyas also takes to figurative art in order to depict real life incidents and scenes. He uses water colours and occasionally oil paints to showcase life vividly. Vyas also uses the online platform to connect with his fans. Depending on the nature of his paintings, this artist from Gujarat takes about one to 15 days to create his masterpieces.

Specialities

Vyas is known for his thought-provoking paintings that reflect his various ideas, moods and emotions. MORE ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Vivek Arts Peacock Portrait, painted in 2014, is a fascinating artwork created using watercolours. The long, graceful neck of a peacock dominates the painting. In the background is the close-up a single peacock feather brought to life with subtle strokes of the brush and myriad of colours blended with perfection. Peacocks are known for their shimmering blue and green plumage and long iridescent tails that fan out nearly two metres in length. The fan-shaped metallic-blue crown is made of feathers with bare black shafts tipped with bluish-green webbing. The peacock’s tail, known as a ‘train’, is made of highly elongated upper tail coverts. These feathers are marked with eyespots, best seen when a peacock fans his tail. Peacocks have, through the ages, inspired art because of their beauty.

The earliest paintings using water-based pigments can be seen in prehistoric cave paintings. Centuries ago, the Chinese painted on silk with water based inks and dyes. In the Western use of the medium, watercolour evolved from illuminated manuscripts in the monasteries of medieval Europe. Water-soluble materials used on vellum or paper defined the art form for most contemporary watercolour artists.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
