About Sangam Sweets, Bangalore

A wonderful confluence of taste and variety

The year was 1964. Haresh Sukhadia, a Kutch native with immense expertise in confectionery left for Bangalore to start his own venture. And thus Sangam Sweets was born. Initially, he only offered Gujarati sweets and savouries, which were met with great response from city-dwellers.

As its popularity soared, the store started offering a beautiful amalgamation of specialities from different cuisines such as Bengali, Gujarati, and Rajasthani. This authentic taste became their trademark. The brand still keeps innovating new recipes and flavours and customers are assured of the best quality products, great service, and perfect hygiene.

Today, under the ownership of Sukhadia’s son Deepesh, the ever-growing enterprise continues to use the same traditional recipes, but with modern semi-automatic techniques for production and boasts a capacity of 500 kg per day.

Sangam Sweets has expanded to various locations such as Gandhinagar, Koramangla, Sadashivnagar, and also at various departmental stores.

Choco-petha Cupcake

Here’s a fusion fix for those boring days. Combine the sweetness of petha with the smoothness of chocolate to rustle up choco-petha cupcakes. They are sure to be an instant hit with everyone – young or old. The recipe comes in handy when you’ve had too much of your favourite sweets and want them in different avatars. Take a stab at it.

Ingredients:-

(Makes 12 cupcakes)

  • Flour– 1½ cup
  • Cocoa powder – 2 tablespoon
  • Baking powder – ¼ tablespoon
  • Powdered sugar – ¾ cup
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Cinnamon powder – 1/8 tablespoon
  • Petha – 5 to 6 pieces; cut in the shape of tutti-frutti
  • Oil or butter (unsalted) – 1/3 cup

Preparation:-

  • Sift all the dry ingredients together except sugar
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the oil/butter and sugar until the sugar melts
  • Add milk into the bowl and whisk again
  • Add this mixture slowly to the dry ingredients and gently fold so that no lumps are formed. Add the petha pieces at this stage
  • When done, the mixture should have a ribbon like consistency
  • If the mixture is too dry, soften with a little milk
  • Line the 12 muffin tray with butter cups and preheat oven at 180 degrees C for 10 minutes
  • Put the tray in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes
Serving Tips
  • Slice into small pieces to garnish cake and ice cream
  • Use as mukhwas (mouth freshener)
  • If you prefer flavoured petha, simply add in the required essence (except cocoa)
  • You can replace tutti-frutti with petha in any recipe. It will taste just the same or even better
