Pure Mart is the brain child of Jammu entrepreneur Sahil Verma. The idea of a platform through which to sell exotic and organic goods of the state had been germinating in Verma’s mind since he was 26. Away from his land for a decade owing to studies and career, he was appalled by the negative stereotypes associated with J&K elsewhere in the country.
His desire to change that in a profitable manner got him hooked to the idea of Pure Mart. Inspired by an entrepreneurial seminar and encouraged by his wife and co-founder Rajani, Verma quit his job in 2011 and began etching out plans for the online store. The website went live in early 2013 and the rest – as they say – is history. The aim of the brand is to make the coveted exotic produce cultivated by J&K farmers in a pure, organic manner easily accessible beyond the state.
Pure Mart began with only 10 kg walnuts and 20 g saffron. However, the purity of the products earned the respect of their customers.Today the monthly production capacity of the brand is a staggering 20 metric tons –that too, simply with manual labour and without any production facilities. The success of Pure Mart finds extensive mention in print and digital media.
Sahil and Rajani Verma have expanded the product range of Pure Mart with various kinds of dry fruits, cereals, and spices. They also market herbal cosmetics under the name Neev. Every product sold by them is pure and organic. They procure their goods directly from the source – the farmers – and ensure they are all cultivated under natural weather conditions.
