Art is a channel of expression for humankind to express thoughts and ideas, emotions, for aesthetic or communicative purposes. With time, visual art has been classified in different genres—from liberal and mechanical arts, to fine and applied arts.
Art produced from the 1950’s to date come under contemporary art. Often associated with spreading propaganda and entertainment, most modern day art fall under this category, though the two do not necessarily feature in all contemporary art. Some historians date the birth of this art to the era of Modernism in the western world. An offshoot of modern art, contemporary art was soon defined as art on the move and in the present.
NJ Arts Meditation is an abstract painting by the very talented Neeta Jain with individual patterns in squares. Each part has a different painting within. The artist has used black, green, yellow, and orange to create a mesmerising effect. Painted in 2015, this landscape painting took fifteen days to complete.
