About Neeta Jain, Ahmedabad

Neeta Jain started painting professionally in 2005 after her husband encouraged her to submit her paintings for his newly renovated office. An aficionado of art and all things creative, she enjoyed drawing even as a child. These were appreciatedby friends and family who recognized the uniqueness of her work. In college, Neeta was fascinated by her aunt’s work and would observe her as she painted. Seeing her keen interest, her aunt taught her techniques and nuances, fostering the budding artist’s passion. Soon, she developed a unique style of her own. There has been no turning back for this prolific creator who finds inspiration everywhere.

Neeta paints with oil and acrylics on canvas and paper, using a palette knife to create different textures in her paintings. Sensitive to her moods, she takes to these mediums to express her emotions. She also takes orders and custom paints according to her clients’ preferences and tastes. A stickler for neatness, all her paintings have defined lines and finesse. Making around twenty-five paintings a year, each of her masterpieces is as vibrant and colourful as the next.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Contemporary art broadly refers to any art produced from the 1950’s till date. Often associated with spreading propaganda and entertainment, most modern day art fall under this category, though the two do not necessarily feature in under the category of contemporary art. Some historians date the birth of this art to the era of modernism in the western world. An offshoot of modern art, it was soon defined as art on the move and in the present.

NJ Bhakti is a tranquil depiction of Lord Buddha under the tree of enlightenment, blessing a woman devotee with his right hand. On his lap, artist Neeta Jain has painted a vivid pink lotus that contrasts the entire canvas painted in dark hues of black and green. Another bright pink lotus is seen in the palms of the devotee and well as near the lord’s feet. A soft yellow halo adds to the peaceful look of the painting.

Made in 2013, this canvas was completed in just an hour and a half, showing the artist’s dedication to her work.
