About Mama Handicraft, Ahmedabad

Respecting traditions

Parimal Pandhi already had a flourishing family business of mouth fresheners, Mama Mukhwas Wala, when fate led him to venture into a new territory – handmade artefacts. Pandhi happened to purchase from his neighbour a shop selling puja items. That was when the idea to produce and source high-quality handcrafted products came to him. And Mama Handicraft came into being in 1995.

An enterprise which began by providing puja paraphernalia for weddings is today a well-organised setup in Gujarat – manufacturing and exporting handicrafts to the American and European markets. It deals in all kinds of wooden objets d’art from Gujarat, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Saharanpur.  The chemical and lac items are procured from Delhi and handcrafted paper items from Gujarat and Jaipur.

With its factory and head office at Jodhpur, Mama Handicraft has a well-balanced team with in-house professional designers and artists. Quality-control personnel keep a close check to ensure standard parameters are met.

The brand produces 100-200 items monthly, with demand escalating during wedding and festive seasons.

With these utilitarian items, the brand is able to reach out to every household. It meets the requirement of the consumers for any festival or ritual. It is a one-stop store for your puja needs. In today’s busy lives, worshipping deities and following traditions have been made easier by Mama Handicraft.

Specifications of Mama Handicraft Puja Shubh Labh Thali (Medium)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Mama Handicraft Puja Shubh Labh Thali (Medium) is a splendid-looking thali that will add elegance and charm to your puja room. It is made using German silver – a copper alloy which is a mix of nickel and zinc. It has a silvery hue and is more corrosion-resistant than brass. The beautiful puja plate has most items you will need for a ritual or festival. An absolute-must for your home, you can use it daily or during special occasions. This nine-piece set includes eight essential puja items – thali, lota, two bowls, diya, aachmani, roli-akshat container, bell, and agarbatti stand.

List of contents
Thali (11.5 in)

This medium-sized puja plate is used for keeping all the items you will need during any ritual or festival. Keep your incense sticks, coconut, and other materials on it. Made of German silver, it has a fine finish with a traditional ‘shubh labh’ icon (written in Devanagari script above the swastika).

Bowl (2 pc)

The bowls come handy in keeping your puja paraphernalia. You can place camphor, belpatra (wood apple tree leaves), betel nut, coins, turmeric powder, flowers, seasonal fruits, and sweets for prasad here.

Diya

A diya forms an important part of any puja ritual or yajna. It is a deep bowl-like vessel which can be filled with ghee or oil. A cotton wick is dipped into it and lit. It symbolises light – the removal of ignorance through knowledge.

Bell

Mama Handicraft offers the quintessential bell which is an absolute must during puja rituals. As you conduct the aarti (prayer service for the deities), the bell will give music and vibrations to the hymns.

Lota

It is a small pot used to store water and comes handy for purification rites. It is an important part of religious as well as spiritual rituals. During puja, it is often decorated with sindoor and turmeric powder.

Agarbatti stand

This flower-shaped, elegant stand is made with German silver and holds the incense sticks.

Aachmani

Aachmani is an ornamental spoon, and forms a sacred combination with the glass. An indispensable part of any puja, it is used to dispense charnamrit – a prasad partaken after the worshipping is complete. It is believed that whoever consumes this liquid will live a long life and finally attain salvation. The aachmani has a very ethnic look and adds a nice touch to your festivities.

Roli-akshat container

Roli (kumkum) and akshat (rice) are the core ingredients in every Indian occasion. This flower-shaped roli-akshat holder has silver plating and adds a beautiful feel to your puja collection.
