Balourieh’s origin can be traced back to the classical city of Aleppo, Halab. This Aleppine sweet is pronounced as “bal-law-ri-yeh”, which is derived from a Palestinian word meaning glow. The name is apt considering the gleaming white colour that exudes from this baklawa and makes it unique from all other variants. Owing to its delectable taste, this dessert item promptly gained recognition across the countries of Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Jordan. Now, its sweetness has spread to the entire world and we bring it here for you in India

One of the most popular delicacies from the Middle East, balourieh is prepared from thin strings of dough, called knafeh dough. The elaborate process involves lightly baked stacked layers of knafeh dough filled with minced pistachios. The total time used in baking balourieh is just around five minutes, which gives it the white colour and makes it one of the most raw baklawa variants. After that, the sweet is cut into square pieces and garnished with a layer of sugar syrup, rendering it with its characteristic shiny look.
