About GISKAA, North East

A Bit of Northeast in Every Corner of India

Living away from home is not easy especially when one misses the delicacies made at home. Meghanath, a hard working guy working in Bengaluru’s IT industry had a vision of bringing a little bit of the Northeast to this city. He floated this idea on Facebook and his friend Surchand, who belongs to Manipur, immediately showed interest. He too was sure that students from these states missed their staple food and knick knacks the way he did.

They soon quit their jobs to pursue this dream with their heart and soul. This was followed by intensive market research. They started their website, www.giskaa.com in March 2015 – an online store for products from all north-eastern states.

The duo initially faced a lot of hurdles for they did not know much about Mizoram, Manipur, and Meghalaya. In order to understand these regions, they trekked across all eight states for a first-hand experience.  During this time, they met with artisans and members of non-governmental organisations (NGOs). They established reliable contacts in Guwahati and decided to set up a collection centre and warehouse there. In order to build networks with artisans and designers at grass-root level, they needed someone who could speak the language and connect with them. This is where the third partner, Ratheesh, stepped in. Together, all three worked with complete dedication, persevered and not surprisingly, their enterprise is now a huge success.

GISKAA is an acronym for the capitals all these states – Guwahati and Gangtok, Imphal and Itanagar, Shillong, Kohima, Agartala and Aizwal. The largest online store for items from these states, GISKAA offers food as well as other products. Meghanath, Surchand Singh, and Ratheesh Kapoor have achieved what only few could; they have given Indians an opportunity to get a glimpse of the beautiful eight sister states.

Specialities

The store began selling items such as baskets, mats, candles, even vegetables, herbs, and spices. Today, GISKAA offers herbs, dried vegetables, nuggets, processed food, grains, spices, jams, pickles, marmalade, organic foods, fruit candies, handicrafts, and much more.

All their items are genuine and eco-friendly; the food being extremely healthy. What makes them stand out is their quality and traditional origin. Buy Northeast products online through SaleBhai and enjoy authentic articles with a modern twist.
