Funcrisp, also known as Ganesh GruhUdyog, is an Ahmedabad-based company that manufactures a whopping 160 varieties of namkeen to be distributed across India.

What sets the brand apart from the others are its healthy, innovative, and 100% Jain recipes that do not contain onion, garlic or potatoes.. The products are also 30% less oily when compared to similar offerings in the market. Today it produces an impressive two tonnes of snacks daily.

Jain first set up shop in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam – famous for namkeen – in 1965. It was only in 1997 that he and his team moved to Ahmedabad. Initially, they started on a small scale, dealing only in wholesale. In less than a decade, they garnered huge support and their business grew from strength to strength. They started a retail shop in 2005 and today, have  four outlets in the city.

Their factory is ISO 900:2008 certified, boasting fully automated machinery to maintain top-quality taste and hygiene. They also have their own research and development department that churns out new recipes every three to four months based on public demand. Funcrisp’s secret to success is maintaining purity, hygiene, and good customer relationship.

Bhakarwadi Twisties

This spicy Indian snack can masquerade as a classy hors d'oeuvre with a little creativity.  As yummy as it looks, the recipe takes little time and effort and is just the thing to serve at cocktail parties or high tea. Garnish with capers, chopped olives, or coriander with a splash of Tabasco sauce. You can also add finely chopped iceberg lettuce to the mix for crunch.  Who said only the French make the best appetizers?   

Ingredients:-

  • Bhakarwadi - 10 large pieces
  • Potatoes - 3-4 large ones
  • Butter -100 g
  • Garlic - 2-3 cloves finely chopped  
  • Oregano -1 tsp
  • Red chilli flakes -1 tsp
  • Milk - as required
  • Salt - to taste 

Preparation:-

  • Boil potatoes. When cool, skin and mash
  • Pass the mash through a sieve for a smooth texture without lumps
  • Add butter
  • Add garlic, oregano, red chilli flakes, and salt
  • Boil the milk slowly, stirring continuously till you get a thick consistency
  • Fill a piping bag with this mixture
  • Place the bhakarwadi on a flat surface and pipe the mixture on top
Serving Tips
  • Serve with tea and coffee
  • Consume as dry snack
