Funcrisp, also known as Ganesh GruhUdyog, is an Ahmedabad-based company that manufactures a whopping 160 varieties of namkeen to be distributed across India.

What sets the brand apart from the others are its healthy, innovative, and 100% Jain recipes that do not contain onion, garlic or potatoes.. The products are also 30% less oily when compared to similar offerings in the market. Today it produces an impressive two tonnes of snacks daily.

Jain first set up shop in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam – famous for namkeen – in 1965. It was only in 1997 that he and his team moved to Ahmedabad. Initially, they started on a small scale, dealing only in wholesale. In less than a decade, they garnered huge support and their business grew from strength to strength. They started a retail shop in 2005 and today, have  four outlets in the city.

Their factory is ISO 900:2008 certified, boasting fully automated machinery to maintain top-quality taste and hygiene. They also have their own research and development department that churns out new recipes every three to four months based on public demand. Funcrisp’s secret to success is maintaining purity, hygiene, and good customer relationship.

Tomato sev curry

Tomato sev curry is an interesting side dish. Prepare the gravy in advance and add Funcrisp Achari Gathiya minutes before serving it. Let the sev cook in the tangy gravy only for two minutes to ensure its crunchiness is intact. Here’s a warning: this spicy treat may make your guests forget the main course. 

Ingredients:-

  • Funcrisp Achari Gathiya – 1 cup
  • Curry leaves – 4-5
  • Chopped tomatoes – 2 cups
  • Garlic – 10-12 cloves
  • Coriander leaves – ¼ cup
  • Sugar – 2-3 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Green chillies – 1-2
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp red
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Preparation:-

  • Heat oil in a pan and crackle mustard seeds along with curry leaves
  • Add crushed garlic and sauté until light brown
  • Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, and salt
  • Cook until tomatoes are soft and mushy
  • Add chopped coriander leaves and sugar
  • Saute for 5 minutes; add water and bring it to boil
  • Add Funcrisp Achari Gathiya and cook for 1-2 minutes
  • Serve immediately
