About Fruit Bageecha – Kotgarh, Himachal Pradesh

Himalayan Fruits on Your Plate

Nestled amidst the foothills of the Himalayas lies the apple basket of India – Kotgarh – located 80 km from Shimla. It is the abode of some of the most popular apples – the delicious red and golden varieties. This is where the story of Fruit Bageecha began. In 2012, entrepreneur couple Kartik Budhraja and Anuradha Kanwar Budhraja – media professionals based in Singapore – decided to shift to the peaceful village of Thanedhar, close to Kotgarh – the horticultural heartland of Himachal Pradesh. Snow-capped mountains and the river Sutlej soon beckoned them. Being connoisseurs of food, they set up their dream project – a boutique fruit-processing unit surrounded by scenic orchards.

Today, they successfully pursue their passion with contribution and support from the native farmers in the region. The local self-help groups in the nearby village of Pamlai meticulously handcraft each of their products. Undeterred by harsh snow or incessant rain, they have zeal to work and deliver the best ethnic recipes to customers everywhere in the country.

They create some of the most exotic recipes with diverse fruits from the area. The fruits, such as cherries, plums, apricots, and apples, are sourced directly from the farms to provide you with some of the finest preserves and spreads straight from the Himalayas.

Back to the ROOTS

Fruit Bageecha is well known for their wide assortment of fine-quality jams and preserves. Each of their products is meticulously handmade by local farmers. They use fruits sourced from the abundant farmlands of Kotgarh. Around 100 years ago, Satyananda Stokes – a Philadelphian young man – introduced the delicious golden and red apple variants in this region. Today, these farms supply a mélange of naturally ripened fruits such as cherries, plums, apricots, and apples all over the country.
