Sun Blessed Coffee Pvt. Ltd (SBCPL) is the result of founder Hemant Bagga’s desire to grow high-quality coffee at par with world-class speciality brews. It was this quest that led him to delve into the nuances of coffee-making—right from cultivating, to blending, and brewing.

In 1998, he acquired Mercara Gold Estate, a beautiful coffee plantation amidst Coorg’s lush greenery. Introducing the best practices in coffee cultivation, he was successful in yielding fine-quality produce of Arabica and Robusta varieties. In 2000, the enterprise became a full-fledged brand, which not only produced coffee, but also carried out roasting and packaging. Using cutting-edge technologies, he established one of India’s best-integrated roasting facilities in 2001. SBCPL became India’s first estate-based coffee company. ,  

The company chooses the finest grades of beans, which are roasted slowly and ground carefully to lock in the aromatic essential oils. SBCPL is the only one to package roasted coffee when still warm. This ensures that customers get the freshest and most aromatic coffee possible. It is also the only Indian coffee grower to use one-way valve bags during packaging. This allows carbon dioxide–which coffee beans release up to a week after roasting–to escape without letting in oxygen, thus preserving freshness, flavour, and aroma.

Director, Seema Chandok, overlooks daily operations, including the manufacturing process that takes place under stringent hygienic conditions to guarantee premium-quality products. The company’s plant produces 100 kg of coffee daily and spreads the aroma through its popular online store Beans-n-Brews.

In 2008, SBCPL established Springdales—Garden Fresh Herbs and Spices. Coffee plantations in India are carried out under a two-tiered mixed shade canopy to prevent soil erosion in sloping landscapes. The cultivation of spices alongside coffee is favoured by almost every coffee grower in the country as the trees enrich the soil by recycling nutrients. Trees also protect the coffee plants from fluctuations in seasonal temperatures. SBCPL began selling spices such as cardamom, black pepper, cloves, cardamom, dried ginger powder, nutmeg, mace, cinnamon, bay leaves, and vanilla under the company name. The driving force was to bring the spices grown at their own plantation in to the discerning customer at a fair price while ensuring customers get the freshest of spices sealed with quality and goodness intact in every pack.

SBCPL has mastered the art of creating blends from different beans over the years through experience, customisation, and in-depth research. It offers two broad ranges of coffees–Indian and international.

The Indian range includes an array of mouth-watering blends such as Kaveri, Dakshin, Sicilian Gold Classic Italian, Café Mercara, Dark Love Turkish Coffee, and Arabian Nights Arabic Kahwa. There are also organic Robusta and Arabica blends for those opt for healthier brews.

Favoloso, their international line, includes speciality coffees of the world such as single-origin Colombia Supremo, Costa Rica Tarrazu, Brazil Santos, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Kenya AA, Yemen Mocha, Old Aged Java, Sumatra Mandheling, Hawaiian Kona, and Jamaican Blue Mountain. SBCPL imports green, unroasted, coffee beans so that these are roasted and packaged at the industrial unit to ensure customers can experience the pleasure of fresh coffee each time they open a packet.
