MORE ABOUT THE ARTWORK

For those who love exquisite pieces of art, Avyukta Kala Creation Peacock Painting is an ideal artefact to possess. Made on handmade paper, the painting is based on the Madhubani art form. This painting made in 2013, shows a beautiful peacock against a colourful background, achieved through bright water as well as poster colours. Madhubani or Mithila painting is practised in the Mithila region of Nepal and in Bihar, India. The origin of Mithila art can be traced to the time of the Ramayana. King Janaka of Nepal, ordered his kingdom to be decorated for the wedding of his daughter, Sita to Lord Rama. Peacocks symbolise portents of nobility, holiness, vitality, guidance, protection, and watchfulness. In India they are associated with Goddess Lakshmi. Their feathers adorn Lord Krishna’s head and flute.
